How To Get Soft Hands During The Winter
Part of having nice nails is having beautiful hands. If your hands look dry then your manicure won’t look that great either. If your hands look hydrated and nourished then your nails will look so much better. Since the winter is here it’s getting that much harder to keep your hands from drying out. Here are a few tips on how to keep your hands looking and feeling their best.
Use Lukewarm Water
It’s so tempting to wash your hands with hot water in the winter however the temperature can slowly strip the moisture out of your skin. Lukewarm water will slightly warm your hands and keep them from drying out.
Get Good Soap
A soap that doesn’t contain sulfate but does have coconut oil, olive oil or another soothing natural ingredients is a must have for soft hands. While the soap cleans your skin, the natural oil(s) help to moisturize them. It’s a win-win.
Whether you’re cleaning the house or doing dishes it’s important to remember to wear gloves because the chemicals found in cleaning supplies are horrible for your hands and nails. Not only do they dry out your skin but they can cause your nails to get brittle and break over time.
Not only should you wear rubber gloves when you’re doing chores but you should wear warm gloves when you’re outside. The cold air and the free radicals are known to dry out the skins moisture so the best thing that you can do is keep them warm.
Over time dead skin builds up making our skin look and feel drier and dull. Using a sugar scrub once a week helps to remove the dead cells and helps our skin to make more of them. Exfoliating will also make your hands feel soft for a day or more.
Moisturize As Needed
Just like your soap you want a moisturizer that has some natural oils that are known to have some powerful moisturizing properties. Coconut, olive, almond and argan oil are all some of the best oils that you can use and they can all be used in their natural forms. For those times when you want a deep moisturizing treatment get a pair of gloves that are lined, apply your lotion or oil and sleep in them.
Hopefully this year won’t be too bad but if it is you’ll be ready.
